Today marks 1 year since the illegal keeping of the lion in the resort “Maja e Zeze” in Gjilan was discovered.

Although it was found that the lion was smuggled into Kosovo and confiscated earlier this year, the lion continues to remain locked up in the same place, hostage to the lack of effort from institutions.

The organization Four Paws has offered to provide shelter for the lion in one of its rescue centers, but so far the Ministry of Economy and Environment is not doing its job to enable the transfer of the lion, despite the fact that we have tried several times to contact directly also the Minister, Mr. Blerim Kuçi.

Through this post, we call again on Minister Kuçi and other officials of the Ministry, to engage seriously in this issue and enable the lion to transfer as soon as possible.
