Regarding the case of the smuggled lion in village of Stançiç in Gjilan, seeing that even after a huge backlash and inspection from state officials so far no legal action has been taken by Ministry of Environment and Food and Veterinary Agency, Animal Rights Foundation in Kosovo on 16.12.2019 has filed a criminal complaint against the owner of the restaurant for illegal import and keeping of the lion.
We urge responsible authorities to take urgent action and start investigations and procedures for confiscation of the lion in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Kosovo.
