Our organization has received information from activists that in Drenas the cruel killing of dogs is taking place. Taking this into consideration, we sent a letter to the mayor of Drenas, Mr. Ramiz Lladrovci, to call on the Municipality of Drenas together with other institutions to take measures against this cruel phenomenon, which is punishable under the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosovo.
Below you can read the letter sent to the Municipality of Drenas:
Dear Mayor, Mr. Lladrovci,
We are writing to you with the greatest concern regarding the cruel killing of dogs that is happening in recent days in the Municipality of Drenas.
This is by no means legally permissible and is beyond any human ethics.
In addition to the fact that this should be investigated by you as a Municipality, the Municipality should also engage with its inspectors to prevent such a cruel thing.
The municipality should also issue a public statement calling on its citizens not to do such a thing, or maybe your municipality has hired hunters and people to do such a cruel thing?
We will take all legal steps to see what the Municipality has to do with this, because we all know that in the past Kosovo Municipalities have contracted people and hunters, to cruelly kill dogs, because humanitarian, legal projects and sustainable are difficult to realize in a country where the law is just paper and nothing else.
If you do not react in time for this, we will make sure that this gesture allowed by your Municipality, goes around the world and it is well known that the state of Kosovo allows the killing of dogs not only by some unqualified veterinarians who allegedly treating dogs with the CNVR method, but who are also silent when there are such killings in a country presumably on steps towards Europe.
We also request feedback from KVFA, who have had meetings with Kosovo Municipalities on the issue of stray dogs and who need to teach Kosovo Municipalities to better understand humane, legal and effective projects for the management of the dog population on the streets. .
We expect answers and feedback from all of you!
