On March 24, at 12:00 PM, our organization will organize a protest in Ferizaj against the vanishing of dogs in this region.
The municipality of Ferizaj has allocated 89,000 euros to treat 1300 stray dogs in 2021 alone, who according to the legislation in force must be treated with the CNVR method.
From the beginning of this project, our organization has addressed the Directorate of Agriculture in the Municipality of Ferizaj to cooperate for proper monitoring of the project. The municipality has not accepted the cooperation with our organization and has rejected our request for monitoring.
From the very beginning of this project, we have acknowledged from many activists in the Ferizaj region that the dogs they cared for every day were disappearing and were not returning to original territory. This raises the suspicion that the dogs were either killed or released to another location far away from where they were caught. Both of these suspicions represent illegal actions and this is exactly what we want to understand from the Municipality of Ferizaj through this protest.
Based on our suspicions and those of many activists in the Ferizaj region, we have requested all monitoring reports and treatment of dogs from the Municipality of Ferizaj, Shtërpce, Kaçanik and Shtime, as the same veterinary entities had been contracted by these municipalities. The Municipality of Ferizaj has received our official requests but has not returned any response and has not sent the data requested by us as provided by Law 06 / L-081 – on Access to Public Documents, except for the project contract. Other municipalities have submitted contracts and reports of work, but there are still many shortcomings in those reports and leave room for additional suspicions of mass murder of dogs.
Our organization has also initiated legal proceedings regarding allegations of animal mistreatment, irresponsible veterinary assistance and abuse of official position by officials of the municipalities in question.
In the period from 2017 to 2021, it has been reported by the above-mentioned municipalities that about 3277 dogs have been treated in the region of Ferizaj and for these dogs and for the public funds spent, all actors involved in these projects must be held accountable. Where are 3277 dogs and were are 158,818.00 euros of public money?
We invite all citizens of the Ferizaj region to join us in this action in order to demand accountability from the Municipality for missing dogs and to prevent suspicious and mismanaged projects in the future, which can also cause a lot of suffering. for dogs and the community.
