A memorandum of cooperation between our organization and the municipality of Pristina was signed today.
Through this memorandum, our organization will support the Municipality of Pristina in monitoring the measures taken by the Municipality of Pristina to solve the issue of stray dogs in a sustainable and humane way. Our organization will be close to the Municipality to support it in general about the management of the dog population in Pristina, based on the National Strategy that is being finalized by the central level (MLGA).
The municipality of Pristina is one of the most active municipalities in terms of stray dog treatment projects, but still, as we have said many times, the situation with street dogs cannot be solved unless the source of the problem is addressed by all municipalities simultaneously who must work seriously and with transparency for a humane reduction of the number of dogs on the street.
Our organization has already started with the scientific counting of dogs on the street, according to the professional methods proposed by the ICAM Coalition, and very soon we will present this data to the municipality, to plan appropriate and effective measures that will address sources of increasing the number of street dogs based on data and dog population dynamics in local communities.
Our organization will monitor every process and measure implemented by the municipality for this purpose, to ensure a professional, accountable, and humane treatment for dogs, who themselves are victims of irresponsible human behavior, such as the separation of puppies from the mother at a very early age and their abandonment, lack of veterinary treatments, mistreatment, etc.
We thank the municipality of Pristina that has chosen to work with a transparent and sustainable approach to solve the problem, since only this approach ensures efficiency in the humane reduction of dogs on the street, and consequently, efficient spending of public funds.
By signing this memorandum, no financial costs are charged to the parties.
