ABOUT US
On behalf of Animals!
Dear Readers, Animal Enthusiasts, Collaborators, and Supporters,
We take great pleasure in introducing the Animal Rights Foundation, also known as ‘For Animals,’ established in April 2018. Our primary objective is to enhance animal welfare, with a strong focus on the legislative aspects that safeguard and promote animal rights.
‘For Animals’ is actively involved in influencing both the legal and policy dimensions that elevate the well-being of animals in Kosovo, while also fostering positive human-animal relationships.
Our organization is unwavering in its commitment to all types of animals, whether they are strays, domestic, farm animals, those used in experiments, involved in sports, or are part of the wild and natural world.
We fulfill our legal obligation by ensuring the effective implementation of existing laws and offering concrete recommendations for their refinement. Our ultimate aim is to establish solid foundations for more animal-friendly, ethical, and ecocentric regulations and laws, ensuring their consistent enforcement.
Furthermore, we are devoted to raising public awareness concerning animal rights and welfare. Our primary emphasis in this context is to educate those responsible for animal care, relevant protective institutions, other non-governmental organizations, and advocate for the significance of applying legislation and best practices that guarantee genuine animal welfare and a dignified regard for animals. This systematic and institutional approach is not yet fully established in Kosovo.
Although we are a relatively new organization, we have forged strong relationships with reputable organizations that have long been committed to animal protection. Two of our most valuable collaborators, who provide professional guidance and offer invaluable advice and financial support crucial to our endeavors, are the ‘Stümme Brüder Foundation and PETA Germany. Other partners include the LAV (Lego Anti-Vivisezione) organization in Trentino and the ATB (Associazione Trentino con i Balcani), who inspired the creation of such an organization, as well as the Tier Im Recht organization from Switzerland.
We express our deep gratitude to our partners and friends who have supported us and continue to do so, making our work more manageable.
Thank you!
Animal Rights Foundation.
OUR PRINCIPLES
Our approach is formed by four fundamental principles:
Legal engagement
Enforcing the current legislation and providing concrete suggestions for its improvement, to lay strong foundations for the most friendly-based, ethical and bio-centric regulatory framework for animals and their protection.
Non-human animal at the heart of our work
Because we recognize that non human animals have the ability to feel and we won’t accept the suffering of any sentient animal.
Our work is based on robust evidence
Our credibility comes from the combination of our experience, monitoring activities, data analysis and the engagement of professional lawyers. We build and use this work evidence to assess our impact so that we deliver meaningful, sustainable change for non-human animals and the society.
We help people & institutions help animals
Animal protection is crucial for each individual non-human animal in need. That’s why we partner with organisations, educate and mobilise individuals, work with governments and within communities and campaign wherever necessary to move people and pressure institutions to better protect animals.
OUR VISION
Animals are sentient beings, experiencing suffering, distress, joy, and affection. It is our shared responsibility to protect not only the animals within our country but those around the world. Our mission is to guarantee that they enjoy enriching lives, expressing their natural behaviors without enduring any form of pain.
Through our efforts, we aim to encourage increased institutional involvement in liberating all non-human animals in Kosovo from injustice, suffering, and premature death.
Our unwavering focus and top priority will always be the rights and well-being of the animals under our care in Kosovo. Ensuring good animal welfare is also integral to shaping a better world, contributing to community welfare, sustainable food production and agricultural systems, environmental health, public safety, and a thriving economy.
By offering legal support for the protection of animals, we can improve livelihoods and establish a more just society in Kosovo.
OUR MISSION
We are dedicated to advancing the well-being of non-human animals, with a particular emphasis on the legal aspects of their protection and the respectful advocacy of their rights. True transformation will only happen when government bodies, individuals, and groups commit to a political, ethical, and lawful course of action on behalf of animals, whether acting together or individually.
