Institutional calls for castrating/sterilizing dogs (or companion animals in general) and calls against dog abandonment are very effective because they reach the general public much faster.
Kosovo municipalities have a legal obligation to take effective measures to prevent the the stray dog population from growing.
The organization “Kosovo Small Animal Welfare” supported by StrayCoco Foundation, offers free castration/sterilization for all owners (owners) of companion animals in the region of Gjakova, who can not afford the costs of this service.
We are very grateful to the organization StrayCoco Foundation which has been operating in Kosovo for many years, helping animals, supporting professional and humane work through CNVR projects, which aim to prevent the breeding of dogs on the streets.
Any citizen from the Municipality of Gjakova, who wants to castrate/sterilize their dog but can not afford the costs, must contact the organization “Kosovo Small Animal Welfare” or directly DVM Blendi Bejdoni, who is a supervisor and head veterinarian of the clinic in Gjakova.
Abandonment of dogs is one of the main factors in increasing the number of stray dogs, so we call on all municipalities to promote responsible keeping of companion animals and to make serious efforts to prevent the increase of the number of the dogs on the streets.
