For 2 months now, thanks to our initiative and through the facilitation for working meetings, from the Office of the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Besnik Tahiri, we are working together with the Food and Veterinary Agency, in:
- amending and supplementing the administrative instruction for identification and registration of companion animals in order to introduce punitive provisions for those who don’t register their companion animals and for those who will abandon them.
- amending and supplementing the administrative instruction to regulate the veterinary compensation for two other services that the state will provide FREE, in the near future for citizens and their companion animals, such as: a. identification and registration of companion animals and b. castration / sterilization of companion animals with keeper (guardian/owner).
- proposing a completely new administrative instruction to regulate the breeding of companion animals (dogs, cats, birds, rodents, amphibians, fish, reptiles), which are intended for sale or gifting.
The first two administrative instructions mentioned above have already been submitted to the Legal Office of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development (MAFRD). The third, hoping to be finalized in the coming days, will also be submitted to the MAFRD.
Minister Besian Mustafa has pledged to receive these administrative instructions as a matter of urgency and priority, and we hope that by the end of this month (October) they will be approved and enter into force.
Minister Mustafa, the fate of many abused and mistreated animals is in your hands!
