With the initiative of our organization and the animal rights activist, Hana Noka, a meeting was organized today between the Animal Rights Foundation and the Chief State Prosecutor, Aleksandër Lumezi, accompanied by the Chief Prosecutor of the Basic Prosecution of Prishtina, Kujtim Munishi and the Director of the Academy of Justice, Enver Fejzullahu.
The purpose of this joint meeting was to discuss issues related to advancing the protection of animal rights in the criminal aspect (which are foreseen by applicable law), raising the awareness of justice institutions in dealing with these cases, and the increased institutional commitment for prosecution of all persons who endanger the welfare of animals and mistreat animals in various forms and ways.
In the end, together with the State Prosecutor we agreed to intensify the cooperation so that the protection of animal rights receives the proper attention of the law enforcement institutions in the Republic of Kosovo.
Our organization will support law enforcement bodies in this regard, but will also demand accountability from the same institutions for the work in the protection of animal rights to be intensified and carried out in accordance with applicable law.
