In recent years, some municipalities have decided to ban the use of fireworks and pyrotechnics during the holiday season. However, these decisions were not implemented in practice, as in order to ban the use of fireworks and pyrotechnic devices, their sale, including their production and import, must be banned.
To stop the use of fireworks and other pyrotechnic devices, only symbolic decisions by municipalities are not enough, but also the commitment of the central level to stop their sale.
For this reason, our organization has sent a formal request to the relevant ministries (MIET, MIA, ME, MESPI) to take all legal action to stop the production, import, export, storage, sale and use of all pyrotechnic devices and fireworks, by natural and legal persons, and to a controlled extent by state bodies, throughout the Republic of Kosovo.
While visually fireworks can look beautiful to the eye, their negative effects cannot be easily ignored. In fact, these effects have a negative impact in many areas, which means that banning their use should be an expected decision with principles of environmental and social sustainability. The use of fireworks and other pyrotechnic devices adversely affects certain areas of human life, which include the environment, animals, health and public safety.
Therefore, through this public statement, we again call on the relevant institutions to take the necessary actions to stop the sale and use of fireworks and other pyrotechnic devices, especially during the holidays.
