Since the entry into force of the Administrative Instructions (MAFRD) 01/2021 & 02/2021 for the identification and registration of companion animals in the country, our organization has continued to seriously engage in cooperation with KFVA, to begin the implementation of these two administrative instructions.
For this purpose, last week we met with KFVA officials to offer our assistance in updating the current KFVA central animal database, to include the registration of companion animals (dogs), as the main prerequisite for starting the identification and registration of dogs with keepers/owners.
The registration of companion animals with keepers/owners is one of the main measures for humane, sustainable and effective management of the population of stray dogs, therefore our organization through financial support from Mrs. Helen Wormser, director of the StrayCoco Foundation, has provided funding for the update of the KFVA central animal registration database.
Our organization is committed to a sustainable and humane solution to reduce the number of stray dogs, so in May we will continue to meet with the responsible institutions to raise this topic and to propose a national strategy for managing stray dogs, so that this issue will be addressed with increased intensity by all actors involved, according to the legislation in force in the Republic of Kosovo.
It is quite positive that an institution like KFVA has welcomed the cooperation and support of our organization to start identifying and registering dogs with keepers, as one of the main measures to control and prevent abandonment of dogs in the street.
Once the identification and registration of dogs with keepers begins, we will inform you in a timely manner.
